Lee hasn't fared well since the death of his wife. He seems to have cast himself in steel while trying to be a staid single father in a 'grey' existence as a security official. He hates his work, but his past employer soon sees to it that worse can happen. Soon he's trapped into a key investigative post in the Isle of Wight. He has huge power, luxurious accommodation including 'a fuck-off balcony' (loved this image) that improves his troubled daughter's spirits enormously. The price is a dangerous existence on the edge of normality.This is plot-driven excitement with futuristic and espionage thread lines. Lee is certainly a match for James Bond but he's not so smooth. Having his daughter, Louise, closely embroiled in the action is a touch inhibiting. That's not to say there isn't love/lust interest for the hero of this series.

Lee Turner picks up the pieces and tries to be good, and Phoebe comes into her own… My favourite scene was the one where Turner and Parks (aka Phoebe) are hiding out in the solar farm.
It was hard to imagine how the plot was going to deal with all the questions Turner is by now faced with, including the resolution of his troubled relationship with his son, Phil. The answer is – with great verve and imagination, so that the reader is continually taken by surprise, right up to the very end, but every outcome is totally credible.
