A short play portraying the extraordinary feats of a pious peasant girl summoned through divine providence for the salvation of France.

By the early 15th Century France was on the brink of disaster. The English were everywhere victorious in the latter stages of the Hundred Years War. It seemed to men and women that France would cease to exist as an independent kingdom. It was in this darkest hour of the history of France, when all seemed lost, that she stepped forth to bring salvation to France and glory to God. Her name was Joan.

For anyone who loves poetry and more particularly is a lover of Elizabethan poetry, will find in the play Joan of Orleans something quite surprising. It is true that people find reading Shakesphere difficult because the English language is not as it was in the 16th and 17th century. It is this that makes the achievement of Vincent Bernard Durand so surprising because what the author has succeeded in doing is something quite unexpected. For he has succeeded in translating Elizabethan poetry into 20th century English. This is a task much more difficult than translating one contemporary language into another.

Joan Of Orleans eBook Robert Arness Vincent Bernard Durand Kaye Jeffrey Yap Reviews

I enjoyed reading Joan of Orleans; and I believe it could start renewed interest in Joan who was and is such a pure and beautiful female figure.
I found the characters believable and engaging . The play progressed at a enjoyable pace. I would like to see it produced as a stage play.
When people engage in conversation, they speak as intelligibly as they can to each other, but even though they are coherent, they are still telling each other secrets. Every human being has a story to tell, and when we talk to each other, we reveal our stories in conversations with each other. So it is with poetry and prose. With all great literature there's always new and deeper meanings to be found and so it will prove to be the case with Joan of Orleans, for I found that Vincent's work because of it's spiritual and moral content will never become dated.
A great achievement for the authors as they have taken on the difficult task of refreshing this wonderful story. The depth extended to this great story through Joan of Orlean is intelligent, passionate and exciting. A great play and a pleasure to read.
This is an amazing reading! Vincent Durand and Robert Arness have accomplished excellence in translating this Elizabethan poetry into 20th Century English without altering any of the deep magic of the story. A wonderful play of an awesome story!Joan Of Orleans
